The Management of the University of Ilorin, Kwara State, Nigeria has appointed Prof. Moji Bakare-Odunola as the new Dean of the Post Graduate School of the university. The appointment, which was approved by the Senate of the university at it 287th meeting, was announced on the university’s bulletin of 9th August, 2021. The appointment made Prof. Bakare-Odunola the 14th Dean and first female to occupy the office.
Prof. Moji Taibat Bakare-Odunola born in Offa, Kwara State, is a Professor of Pharmaceutical Chemistry. She graduated as a Biochemist in 1984. She obtained her M.Sc. and Ph.D in Pharmaceutical Chemistry in 1987 and 1992 respectively from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Nigeria. She started her academic career in ABU in 1987 as an assistant lecturer rising to the grade of Professorship in 2006. She however transferred her service to the University of Ilorin in 2012.
She was past president of Science Association of Nigeria; a premier Association established in 1958 for all scientists in Nigeria. She has also served as the Coordinator of African Centre for Herbal Research before her current appointment.
