The Partnership for African Social and Governance Research (PASGR), in conjunction with the Mastercard Foundation, will hold a research-based and youth-driven workshop on Tuesday 14th December, 2021 in Ibadan, Oyo State Nigeria.
The programme which is expected to commence at 10am will enable participants and the research team to discuss matters revolving around the workshop’s theme “Young women and men’s aspirations and resilience: Prospects for livelihoods, employment and accountability before, during and beyond COVID-19” in Nigeria.
The Executive Director, PASGR, Dr. Anthony Mveyange, stated that the workshop will be an avenue to explain the research project to stakeholders and obtain their views on the research approach, identify and select stakeholders that will be critical for the project success. “The meeting will also help in the constitution of an Utafiti Sera House (platform) for continuous engagement on Youth Aspirations and Resilience in Nigeria,” he said.
Similarly, the Project Principal Investigator (PPI) for Nigeria, Dr Babatunde Ojebuyi of the University of Ibadan mentioned that the convening will bring together the youth and other relevant stakeholders involved in youth activities (such as government, development partners, scholars, the media and CSOs). In addition, Ojebuyi said the convening will be a platform for interested participants to have continuous conversations on Youth Aspirations and Resilience in Nigeria and take them up in policy spaces.
Expected speakers at the meeting are Mr Sunday Dare, the Honourable Minister of Youth and Sports, Nigeria ; Mr Victor Dideoluwa Olojede, Special Assistant to Oyo State Governor on Students’ Affairs; Dr Anthony Mveyange, the Executive Director, PASGR; Dr Babatunde Raphael Ojebuyi, the Nigeria’s Project Principal Investigator; Dr Martin Atela, Programme Manager Research, PASGR , among other speakers and dignitaries.
