FUO Students’ Entrepreneurship Group Launches Knowledge Preservation System.

As part of the practical in understanding software flow and real-life programming experience, the web programming entrepreneurship group at Fountain University, Osogbo, led by Messrs Akinlabi Abdulkabeer and Ganiyu Mubarak of the university ICT unit, has launched its knowledge preservation system for the university. The idea, which had the approval of the University Librarian, Dr. Wasiu Lawal, was developed to archive past and subsequent academic projects carried out in different departments of the university.

The unveiling of the project, which took place during the university entrepreneurship exhibition on Friday April 1st 2022, was lauded by people who were at the programme. While commending the project, the Director of the Centre for Entrepreneurship Studies, Dr. Oladosu M.O, said that she was impressed that the entrepreneurship programme of the university is leading to innovations that contribute back to the institution. She commended the web programming/design team for coming up with a system that would archive the knowledge database of the university.   

In sharing the rationale behind the innovation, the team lead, Mr. Akinlabi Abdulkabeer, stated that the group was formed to create innovations that will have positive effect on the university. Narrating their experience during the programme, students were delighted to have come up with the knowledge database. Emmanuel Adeleke, a student of the Nursing Department, said it was a new experience for him taking part in building a database. He stated that he was excited in taking part in practical training designed to have an understanding of software flow and architecture.

In her own narration, Halimah Omilana, averred that she was happy in being part of the team that came up with a development of an archived, searchable central database that is accessible to all. Another member of the group, Mukhtar Afolabi noted that the database operates when students use tags or keywords of interest to search the directory to see which topics have been done before now. According to him, this serves as a reference mechanism as well as prevents duplication of projects by students.

The entrepreneurship exhibition is a programme put in place for students in different departments who are undergoing entrepreneurship training in the university to showcase their end products or services.
