I am an entrepreneur by circumstances. (laughs) I used to believe business is not my thing, this orientation has led to the collapse of my previous businesses because I give them up easily. So, Creativity and innovation led me to create RubybyRukky, a perfumery company, where we mix different natural notes to make scents, we produced different oil perfume, Eau De cologne, and a host of others, low patronage led to the shutdown. I switched to fashion, and the birth of Ariny_Couture was a good start, i’d thought It would fly because we sow creatively, I would travel to lagos to source fabrics even when there are shirt material here. After sowing, I would take the shirts to the Laundromat for laundry and good packaging, this processes cost me a lot. Innovation pushed me to give my clients TM Lewin, Dolce Gabbana standard in exchange with cut/sow price.

In reality, business has been in my blood since childhood; perhaps I inherited it from my mother. I recall assisting my mother in some of the businesses she started while also working as a teacher. Sometimes, I deliberately begged her to let me hawk with some girls that were selling stuff for us. I also loved to stay in her mini provision shop and make sure I keep records of daily sales. I was around 10 years old at the time. Fast forward to my adulthood, I realized that I love to multitask and troubleshoot a lot of things. I want to be a lecturer and an entrepreneur. I’m glad that I am pursuing the two paths simultaneously and to the glory of God it has been working for me even though it hasn’t been that easy

UI Former DVC Appointed to World Food Security Steering Committee

A former Deputy Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Prof. Olanike Adeyemo, has been appointed as a Member of the Steering Committee of the World Food Security (CFS) High-Level Panel on Experts on Food Security and Nutrition. This was announced on Prof. Adeyemo’s LinkedIn page. Adeyemo said “I am pleased to announce that I have been appointed to the membership of the Steering Committee of the World Food Security (CFS) High-Level Panel of Experts on Food Security and Nutrition (HLPE).” The appointment made her the only appointee from the African Continent.
